Getting feedback from young men can be a challenge, but when you get a response, you know that you did something right.  Even my own son said the same thing to me yesterday on InstraGRAM with his GAMEOVER photo:  "shout out to @denisemarieolson.  This image is sick."  or something to that extent.  Thanks guys for the "sick" comments!!!!!  Its all heart...

  

Life is a Pitch.

One of the many major projects that I'm currently working on, "Life is a Pitch." A photo documentary featuring my black and white sports photography. Its that moment where the athlete doesn't know that a photo is being taken, that they exhibit such a game mood. If not mood, the anticipation of the play. Moments like this are captured showing a different perspective of the game. Cannot wait to showcase this adventure over the years.

Remember Kiarra?  Well yesterday she announced that she'll be signing with the Corning Red Barons Softball TEAM!!!!

"Burrell has had an outstanding high school career.  Entering her senior season, she boasts a .536 batting average, has 19 homeruns, 131 RBI's and a .713 on-base percentage.  From the circle, she has an impressive 43-4 record with a 1.09 ERA in 262.2 innings pitched with 334 strikeouts.  She has been selected to the Steuben County League (SCL) All-SCL team four-times, she is a three-time SCL MVP, a four-time selection to the All-Section V first team and was the 2013 Corning Leader Player of the Year."

put me in coach...

During the draft, I was asked to be the assistant coach for my daughter's softball team.  Of course, the first thing out of my husband's mouth was, "You know you won't be able to take photos."  Yes, I know, but I know that there will be other ways to get the photos needed to document the memories. What about Instagram??  Brad Mangin does a superb job of documenting baseball behind the scenes. A whole new perspective of sports photography. I know that holding my camera and coaching do not go hand in hand.  No more ball on bat shots because I'll be too busy base coaching.  Perhaps more of the pitching shots, and action on the field.  Who knows. But overall, my shutter will not take a beating like it has.  But, I'm still available to shoot sports.... but like any of my business projects now, fees are required.  Its all business...  Contact me for stylized sports shoots or action shots.  Still shooting at large!!!
